Strategic Projects & Innovation Director
George is Director of Strategic Projects & Innovation at AMBA (the global MBA-accrediting body, headquartered in London). He is responsible for managing the MBA accreditation of 130 of the leading business schools in Europe, Asia and America. During his 11 years at AMBA he has participated in 200 MBA accreditation visits on 6 continents and has reviewed for accreditation 1,000 MBA programs. At the strategic level, George also focuses on developing initiatives in EdTech, online, executive and entrepreneurship education.
Before joining AMBA in 2011, George had a consulting career touching on media (CNN-Atlanta), sustainability (Bolivia) and renewable energy (Bulgaria); he did macroeconomic research for the Economic Policy Institute; and had a stint of four years as managing editor of a China business news service for Reuters Business Briefing and Dow Jones Factiva. He taught China Business and Economy at Sofia University (2004-2007) and has a professional interest in Entrepreneurship research.
George completed his first MBA (2.5 years, part-time) at Sofia University in 2005. In 2010 he completed his second MBA (2 years, full-time) at Emory University (Atlanta), where he was a Fulbright Scholar (+ a semester at HKUST - Hong Kong). George also holds an MSc in Economic History and Anthropology from the London School of Economics and a BA in Chinese Studies from Sofia University.
